Accessibility
Detour should work for every driver
Whatever phone you are on, however you read the screen and however you get around a page, you should be able to use detour.africa. If something gets in your way, we want to know.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That covers things like enough contrast between text and background, labels a screen reader can read out, and a site you can use with a keyboard alone.
How we check
- Every public page is checked automatically against WCAG 2.2 AA, at phone and desktop sizes, with the menus open as well as closed.
- The last full check was on 26 October 2026. It covered 51 pages and found no problems.
- An automated check finds many problems but not all of them. That is why what you tell us matters.
What the site does for you
- A "Skip to content" link as the first thing a keyboard reaches.
- Captions on the driver videos.
- Movement is switched off if your phone or computer is set to reduce motion.
- Text can be made larger in your browser without the page breaking.
What we know falls short
- In one driver video, a few seconds of speech could not be made out, and the captions say so.
- Signing up continues on driver.detour.africa, and the Fuel card on fuel.detour.africa. This statement covers detour.africa only.
