Cookie notice
What this website stores on your device, what it is for, and how to refuse it.
Effective October 26, 2026
Google Analytics runs only if you agree to it. Without your agreement, the site still counts how often each part of a page is seen and clicked, as daily totals that store nothing on your device and identify nobody.

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This notice also covers anything else that stores data on your device for the same purposes, such as local storage and session storage.
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, anything that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for is set only with your agreement. That is why this site asks.
Essential, and set without asking
These are needed for the site to work at all. Refusing them would mean the site cannot do what you came for, so they are not optional and there is no banner for them.
- A session cookie, so the site knows your browser between one page and the next. It is how a signed-in portal stays signed in, and how a form keeps what you typed.
- A security token on every form, which is what stops a different website submitting a form as you.
- A short-lived record of an offer or referral code you arrived on, so the offer is still attached when you finish applying.
These are set by Detour, are not shared with anybody, and are not used to build a profile of you.
Analytics, and only if you agree
Detour uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages and which parts of a page people read and click, where they stop, and whether the site works on the device they are on.
Google Analytics sets cookies and sends information to Google, including your IP address, which means your information leaves South Africa. Google LLC is in the United States.
Nothing is loaded and nothing is set until you agree. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded at all. Not a reduced version, and not a version with tracking switched off.
Analytics is never loaded on a page behind a sign-in, on a payment page, or on any page whose address carries a token. Those pages are excluded regardless of what you chose.
If you agree, the site also keeps, in session storage for that browser tab only, the campaign or the website that brought you here, so that if you go on to sign up, the sign-up can be credited to it. It holds nothing about you and is deleted when you close the tab.
Counting without cookies
Whether or not you agree to analytics, the site counts how often each part of a page is seen and clicked, and which kind of website or campaign the visit came from. These are kept as totals for each day. Nothing is stored on your device for this, and the totals contain nothing that identifies you or your device.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time from the link in the footer. Declining later stops anything further being collected; it does not delete what was collected while you had agreed, which you can ask Google to delete directly.
Your browser can also block or delete cookies. Blocking essential ones will break the site; that is a choice available to you and we do not work around it.
Other websites
Some things on this site are hosted elsewhere and set their own cookies when you use them: a payment page at our payment provider, a video, a map, a link to an Uber or a partner website. Their notices apply to them, not this one.
