Which plan fits your week?
Answer five questions about how you drive and land on the right Detour plan.

The right Detour plan is the one that fits the week you actually drive. Not the cheapest, and not the one with the most on it. Work through these five questions in order.
1. What are you driving?
- A motorbike or scooter, for delivery: On-The-Go covers Mobility Vouchers for petrol and diesel on motorbikes and scooters.
- Your own car: you need Professional Driver or MyOwnBoss for petrol and diesel on a car.
- You want a car from Detour: Subscribe to Drive needs MyOwnBoss.
EV charging is in the Mobility Vouchers on every plan, so an electric vehicle does not change the answer on its own.
2. How long have you been driving?
On-The-Go is made for new drivers, under a year on the road. If you are still finding your hours and your areas, a lower weekly fee while you learn makes sense. You can move up any time, from the following week.
3. Is driving your only income?
If driving is all you have, a breakdown or a slow week hits harder. Professional Driver is made for full-time drivers with no other income. It adds AA roadside patrol assistance up to 100 km round trip, with a tow at a reduced AA rate you pay yourself, the AA Stand-by-you service at 100 km roundtrip, data-free Uber Driver app, Google Maps and Waze, and telephonic legal and technical advice. Those are the things that keep a full-time week going.
4. How much might you need in a bad week?
Each plan has a fixed Detour Capital amount for the week something goes wrong:
- On-The-Go: R500, paid back as R720.
- Professional Driver: R1 000, paid back as R1 270.
- MyOwnBoss: R2 500, paid back as R2 870.
Each repayment is what you borrow, plus R120 interest and fees, plus your plan's own weekly subscription, in one go from your next week's Uber earnings. Do not pick a plan for the biggest amount. Pick it for the amount your next week could comfortably pay back. Each request is assessed, so approval is not guaranteed.
5. Are you running it like a business?
MyOwnBoss is for drivers who treat driving as a business: long weeks, a Detour car, or bigger costs to cover. It has everything on Professional Driver, a 200 km roundtrip AA Stand-by-you service, and the higher Detour Capital amount.
Quick answers
| If you are... | Start with |
|---|---|
| New, under a year, or on a bike | On-The-Go, R100 a week |
| Full time in your own car | Professional Driver, R150 a week |
| In a Detour car, or running it like a business | MyOwnBoss, R250 a week |
You can always move up. Start where you are, not where you hope to be.
Before you join
- Put the weekly fee into your list of fixed costs and check your normal week can carry it.
- Read what is in the plan, so you use what you are paying for.
- Remember the fee is charged weekly in advance and is not refundable once the week starts.
The right plan is the one that fits the week you actually drive.
