Fleet agreement
For an owner listing a vehicle with Detour. What we do with your car, what you are paid, and who carries what.
Effective October 11, 2026
Back to all legal documentsDetour Capital is a short-term payday loan from Pronto Loans, a registered credit provider (NCRCP 10240). Read Pronto Loans' terms and conditions.
This agreement is between you, the registered owner of the vehicle ("Owner"), and Detour Holdings t/a Detour Limited (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/819492/07, of Inospace - Olympia Works, 13 Olympia Street, Eastgate, Sandton, 2090 ("Detour").
You remain the owner of the vehicle throughout. Detour does not buy it, does not take a share in it, and does not register any interest over it. This agreement does not transfer ownership and is not a sale.
What detour does
- Finds and screens a driver for the vehicle, including a criminal record check through MIE, licence verification and references.
- Puts candidates in front of you. You choose the driver; nobody drives your vehicle because Detour said so.
- Handles the operating permit application and the e-hailing onboarding.
- Collects what the vehicle earns and pays you.
- Stands between you and the driver. The agreement for the money is between you and Detour, so you are never chasing a driver.
What it costs
Detour charges a fixed management fee of R1 000 a month per vehicle. The first month is paid by card in two halves: R500 when you list, and R500 once onboarding is finalised. From the second month the fee comes off what the vehicle earns.
The R500 you pay when you list holds your place while we assess the vehicle. If we cannot take it, we refund that amount in full. Once the vehicle is on the road it counts towards your first month's fee rather than being an additional cost. The onboarding half is not refundable once onboarding has been finalised.
Detour's margin on what a driver pays is disclosed to you before you sign and is between R1 000 and R1 500 a month.
What you are paid, and when
You are paid what the vehicle earns, less the driver's share, less Detour's management fee, into the bank account you give us. We verify that account against a bank confirmation letter in your name before the first payment.
There is no guaranteed amount. What a vehicle earns depends on the driver, the city and the week, and Detour does not promise a figure.
We will never ask you to change your banking details by email, by message or over the phone. A request that appears to come from us asking you to do that is not from us.
Insurance and the excess
The vehicle must be comprehensively insured for e-hailing use, with the insurer told that the vehicle is used for e-hailing and that somebody other than you is the regular driver. A private policy that does not know both of those can refuse a claim.
You pay the premium. Detour does not pay it and does not take over your policy.
If a driver Detour placed puts the vehicle in any kind of situation, Detour pays 50% of the insurance excess for that incident. This applies per incident and is not capped.
KMJ One Capital, FSP 48696, is the broker, introduced by Detour. Detour is not a financial services provider, is not an intermediary, and gives you no advice about cover. You may keep your own insurer; if you do, tell us the premium and the excess so we know what we are carrying with you.
Branding
Branding is optional. You choose it when you list and you may decline it without affecting anything else in this agreement.
If you agree to it, Detour may apply Detour and e-hailing platform branding to the vehicle while it is operated through Detour. Detour pays to apply it and to remove it, removes it when the vehicle leaves the programme, and puts right any damage the removal causes.
Detour does not carry branding for any other party on your vehicle without your agreement.
Tracking and the vehicle's condition
A tracker is required. A dual dash camera is strongly recommended, because it is what settles a dispute about what happened. If the vehicle already has a tracker, it stays; tell us who it is with.
You are responsible for the vehicle being roadworthy, licensed and serviced. Who pays for servicing and running costs is agreed with you for your vehicle and recorded in your schedule to this agreement.
How long it runs, and ending it
This agreement runs until either of us ends it. You may take your vehicle back on 30 days' written notice.
Detour may end it on 30 days' written notice, or immediately where the vehicle is not roadworthy, is uninsured, or where continuing would put a driver at risk.
Ending it does not cancel amounts already owed in either direction, and does not affect an incident that happened while it was running.
