Subscription tier terms
What each weekly tier costs, what it includes, and what changes when you move between them.
Effective November 2, 2026
Back to all legal documentsDetour Capital is a short-term payday loan from Pronto Loans, a registered credit provider (NCRCP 10240). Read Pronto Loans' terms and conditions.
These terms apply between you and Detour Holdings t/a Detour Limited (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2025/819492/07, of Inospace - Olympia Works, 13 Olympia Street, Eastgate, Sandton, 2090 ("Detour", "we", "us"). They govern the weekly subscription tier you choose and sit alongside our Terms and Conditions, which continue to apply in full.
Your tier is the weekly fee you pay Detour. It is separate from any vehicle rental, which is covered by the Vehicle subscription terms, and separate from what you earn on an e-hailing or delivery platform, which is between you and that platform.
The three tiers
Detour offers three tiers. The fee is weekly, charged in advance, and non-refundable once the week has started:
- On-The-Go, R100 a week. Detour Capital of R500, paid back as R720 in one week.
- Professional Driver, R150 a week. Detour Capital of R1 000, paid back as R1 270 in one week.
- MyOwnBoss, R250 a week. Detour Capital of R2 500, paid back as R2 870 in one week.
Detour Capital is a short-term payday loan from Pronto Loans, a registered credit provider (NCRCP 10240), and Pronto Loans decides every request. What you pay back is the amount, R120 interest and fees, and the R150 subscription. See the Detour Capital terms.
Mobility Vouchers, for petrol, diesel and EV charging, are available on every tier, and EV charging is covered on every tier. For petrol and diesel, On-The-Go covers motorbikes and scooters up to R500 a week; a car requires Professional Driver or MyOwnBoss. Taking a car from Detour, including a car its owner lists with Detour, requires the MyOwnBoss tier. Taking an electric bike from Detour requires at least On-The-Go. While you have a vehicle from Detour, the weekly rental and your tier fee are both payable every week.
Prices are the prices published on our website on the day you join, and the tier you joined on is the tier you are charged until you change it or we change it under the clause below.
Roadside and assistance benefits
The roadside, medical and assistance benefits in your tier are provided by The Automobile Association of South Africa NPC ("the AA"), registration number 1932/004001/08, under an agreement between Detour and the AA signed on 13 October 2026. Detour pays the AA for your cover. The AA is the one who renders the service.
What the AA provides depends on your tier:
-
On-The-Go:
- Armed response.
- Medical assistance.
- Pothole Assist, Fines Payment and Vehicle Licence Renewal.
- Roadside services, including towing and patrol, on a pay-on-use basis. These are not in your weekly fee. The AA quotes you the price at the time of the emergency and you pay it.
-
Professional Driver:
- Medical assistance.
- Pothole Assist, Fines Payment and Vehicle Licence Renewal.
- Roadside patrol assistance, within a maximum of 100 km round trip.
- Stand-by-you service.
- Technical advice and telephonic legal advice.
- Towing at reduced pay-on-use rates. A tow is not in your weekly fee on this tier. You pay the reduced rate the AA quotes you.
-
MyOwnBoss:
- Medical assistance.
- Pothole Assist, Fines Payment and Vehicle Licence Renewal.
- Roadside assistance, including towing and patrol, within a maximum of 200 km round trip.
- Stand-by-you service.
- Technical advice and telephonic legal advice.
On MyOwnBoss, towing does not cover a tow that comes out of an accident or out of an insured event. Where the vehicle is insured, a tow after an accident runs through the insurer and not through this benefit.
Armed response is on On-The-Go only. It is not part of Professional Driver or MyOwnBoss.
The AA decides whether a case falls inside the cover it provides, and the AA's own terms apply to the service it renders. Detour does not provide these services, is not the AA's agent, and does not decide whether the AA accepts a case. If the AA turns a case down and you believe that is wrong, tell us and we will take it up with them.
To give you this cover we send the AA, every month, a list of the vehicles covered and the tier each one is on. Our Privacy Policy sets out how that works.
These benefits depend on our agreement with the AA. That agreement runs for two years from 13 October 2026, after which either side may end it on three months' written notice, and it can end earlier in the limited circumstances the agreement allows. If it ends, or if what the AA provides changes, what your tier includes changes with it. We will tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and the clause below on changing a tier applies.
How the fee is collected
The weekly fee is collected from your Detour account. Where you are driving a Detour vehicle or have taken Detour Capital, it is taken from money that reaches us on your behalf before the balance is paid to you.
If there is not enough in your account to cover the fee in a given week, the shortfall carries over and is taken from the next amount that reaches us. Your tier does not lapse because of a single short week, and we do not charge interest or a penalty on a carried shortfall.
The weekly fee is not a deposit, is not refundable, and does not accumulate into a credit or a balance you can draw.
Changing or leaving a tier
You may move up a tier at any time. The new fee applies from the following week, and so does the higher Detour Capital amount.
You may move down a tier or cancel at any time, with the change taking effect from the following week. Moving down or cancelling does not cancel anything you already owe, including Detour Capital still to be paid back, a fuel balance or a vehicle rental.
If you have a car from Detour, you cannot move below MyOwnBoss while you have it. With an electric bike you may move to any tier, as every tier is at least On-The-Go.
If we change a tier
We may change a tier's price or what it includes. We will tell you before a change affects you, and the change will take effect no sooner than 30 days after we tell you.
If you do not accept a change, you may cancel before it takes effect without owing the new fee. Cancelling does not affect what you already owe.
Ending this agreement
We may suspend or end your tier if: you breach these terms or our Terms and Conditions; you give us information that is false in a material way; your account is used in connection with fraud; or you lose the right to drive on the platform your earnings come from.
Ending your tier does not end your obligation to pay back Detour Capital, a fuel balance or anything else outstanding, and it does not end our obligation to pay you money we hold that is yours.
